Default 2001 Discovery CDL Question

Hey there! What VIN #s of the 2001 Disco came CDL equipped? I know that "early" 2001s have them but I'd like a more accurate answer. Also, if anyone can post a quick picture of a CDL transfer case it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! -Justin

Send me your e-mail address and I'll send you a picture. Look on the drivers door jam, what is your production date?

I finally got off my duff to check and see if I have the CDL on my 01 D2. First I looked at the build date on the drivers door. 11/00 Looks good so far. Then crawled underneathand felt for it. Felt like it was there but I still wasn`t 100% sure. Then I grabbed my inspection mirrowand a flash light and crawled back underneath and looked. There it is!!!!

Now to get some kind of linkage to make it work. Don`t know if to go the exspensive route or to do it cheaply ? Just glad that I have it!!

Here is a good place to go for the linkage, right now he is only showing the D1 set up for $150, if you want the04 set up call him and he will put your name on the list for the next one that is available. http://www.roverlandparts.com/index....S&Category=347

I know I'm bringing back an old thread, but I was just curious if anyone out there knows when they stopped installing the CDL t/case. I'm looking around at discos and taking my time with it. I've been reading a lot on this forum (lots of great stuff here) and found out about this issue. I'd like to make sure the one I get has this. Not that I'll use right away, but there's a chance I will want it later on down the road. What build dates should I be looking for? Also, is there a picture anywhere on the net, so I can check under a truck and know what I'm looking for? Or could someone describe it to me? Sorry for such an involved question. I really appreciate your time.

Thanks,

Seth

Later '01 through '03 do not have the CDL at all. The '04 models have cable linkage from the t-case shifter, and D1's have a mechanical style linkage. Aside from the years mentioned above, the D2's have the nipple, but no way to engage it from within the truck. If you want to engage it manually crawl under the front passenger door, and find the end of the front drive shaft. Feel on the top of the t-case for the nipple.
