Question 2002 DII misfire

Hi All,

Question. I am getting codes on my truck (p301 & p306) for misfiring. I was wondering in anyones experience, could this be just the wires and plugs, or is it more likely the coil pack?

The wires are original, the plugs replaced about 30k ago.

Thanks for all your help.

K

Why does everyone assume coil packs first?
Replace the wires - they will most likely be the cause and they are much cheaper than new coil packs.
Go get some 8mm wires at Kingsborne Kingsborne Wire Werks Inc - Spark plug wires, Automotive, RV, Motorcycle, Marine, Racing, Industry

Ok, I plan on trying to replace the wires and plugs. What wire set and spark plug does everyone recommend?

Bundu, the Kingsborne wires seem like a great deal at $30 versus the Magnecor set that run about $95. Are they comparable?

Thanks again.

Many people are running Kingsborne wires, including myself. I have not heard of any complaints about them. You can also look at STI wires.

Default Update

My brother and I(more my brother then me ) replaced the wires and spark plugs yesterday. Used the step by step instructions posted in the sticky and had the job done in about 3 hours or so. Small hands would be a big help, unfortunately neither of us have them.

Used the Kinsbourne 8mm wires as recommended. Running like a champ and no codes.

Thanks for all the help,

K

p.s. I plan on doing some of the other recommended tune up items Disco Mike talks about, will post results.
