2002 vs 2003 Air Box Differences
I need a new air box assembly for my 2003 Disco; the entire assembly including the flexible intake pipe to the LH fender/wing.
The 99-02 air box is cheaper and easier to get, is there a big difference between that and the 03-04 air box?

03-04 MAF (just the housing is different the sensor itself is the exact same unit), Intake Tube, and Airbox Lid are a different size on the 4.6L vs the 4.0L.
I have known several 03-04 D2 owners that got tired of going thru airbox lids so they switched over to 99-02 MAF Housings, 99-02 Intake Tube, and the Airbox Lid with ZERO performance issues.

They all can break, but the 4.6L airbox lid is thinner and more prone to breaking. I’ve honestly never snapped a 4.0L lid, but I’ve snapped a few 4.6L’s.
It must be higher quality being on a Range Rover lol, but I've still had to replace some 4.0/4.6L RR airbox lids for the same thing. I think it's a little more common down here due to the extreme heat we get under our bonnets vs other parts of the country.
I do believe the late model RR 4.6 lids were made of either a better material or construction.
All the 03/04 Disco lids we get are cracked. I’ve had the RR lids on our 2 04’ D2s for years without issue.
Every 4.6 RR lid I’ve gotten my hands on has been perfect.

Kinda the same theory with Bosch RR 4.6L vs Bosch D2 4.6L lol.
I was shocked when I bought my 04 S Vienna Green D2 as it's air box lid was flawless. First 03-04 D2 I've bought used that was actually 100% OEM under the bonnet. She's a looker minus the darn oil light at idle lol.
