2003 D2: P0441 - Help Replacing Purge Valve
I’ve got a P0441 fault code and I’ve read that I’ll need to replace the purge valve. I bought a part and I’ll get some hose clamps to replace the ones that could be original parts - they’re not worm clamps, but maybe a one-time use type of clamp.
Does anyone have any information about how to do this? I’ve located the purge valve and given the surrounding area a look around. It appears there’s another small electrical part that might be in the way on top of the hoses I’ll need to get between. Has anyone written a guide or created a video to help others with this? There shouldn’t be any (or only a little) liquid in this part (canister?) right?
I’m hoping this is the last thing I’ll have to do to get her smogged!

Thanks! Looking good - it looked like mine had another part sticking out on top of the purge valve that might be in the way. I’ll have to see tomorrow. The hoses looked ok - I’ll be attempting to reuse them as well as the “one time use” clamps although I’ve got extra worm clamps in case.
So, I finally got around to this. It took a bit to get the ear clamps off (never worked with them before), getting the hoses off and getting electrical connectors and other things out of the way, but I put the Hyundai part on there and locked it in with new worm clamps since I couldn’t get the original ear clamps back on. I cleared the engine codes, ran the car for a bit just to make since it was alright and no codes came back yet. I’m hoping it stays that way long enough that I can smog her now! Crossing my fingers this code doesn’t come back. Thanks everyone!
While I was in there, I saw the IAC to throttle body hose showing cracks right after the clamp... replaced that not too long ago too. Oh well!

I just wanted to update y’all again saying that after I replaced the crankshaft position sensor (I was getting a misfire code I couldn’t figure out) and the purge valve, I ran a smog pre-test using my scanning tool and took my D2 into a smog shop. She passed. I can’t wait to get the registration sticker finally. I’m so relieved. California regulations are torture.
I only replaced the CPS when she died while at a stop and wouldn’t start, except for a few times here and there but died again. I thought I had a much more serious issue that had to do with the ticking and low compression in one of the cylinders. Just the CPS throwing that misfire code and causing her to stumble.
The purge valve was a relatively simple job, just a bit of fight with hoses, clamps and working in a somewhat tight area. I pulled the IAC hose off one end to get more space and disconnected some other connectors that were in the way. Now that I have an idea of what I’m doing, I’ll make a video if it happens again.
