Quite new here myself, but the biggest things I found when researching, was the oil pump and front drive shaft. The stock front driveshaft should be replaced ASAP if it does not have the greasable double cardon u-joints on it. They are prone to fail and take big chunks of expensive stuff out when they do. I've got to order a replacement myself. I believe a fellow named Tom Woods puts together a nice updated drive shaft for the DII. Not sure of the best way to get in touch with him is though. Maybe someone else here can chime in and point us in the right direction.

best drive shafts out there, but its going to cost you...much cheaper just to replace the U-joints

Nitetrain- I agree with you 100%. At 1st i was unsure what i needed and how to do it, and I was gonna do the Tom Woods drive shaft but then I talked to Disco Mike and he convinced me i could do it myself...

then i found this link and now i know i could do it myself.

NiteTrain,

Thanks for the input. If I were to only replace the u-joints, do you know the best place to get them?

autozone.. ask for a 1993 Volvo 240 part # 1-0005

http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,.../selectZip.htm

or find precision brand part # 344 the difference is the placement of the grease fittings.
