Default 2003 disco headlight bulb replacement

i know there are lots of threads, but didn't see what I was looking for.

question: i want to replace my factory headlight bulbs to something brighter. what is the best/brightest bulbs for my disco? preferably something i can get at a local autostore (napa, autozone, oreilys) price not being a big issue. Part #s would be great.

thanks

The chain stores will have the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras. Some other places will have the Philips Xtreme Power or the GE Nighthawk Platinum. Those are the high-lumen bulbs. Carry spares.

+1 on this as it is your only option.

Dont even bother trying to browse the net for HID setups. They're illegal to be used in Non-HID housings and will just make you look like an *** blinding people all the time. Even if you find "kits" that come with housing unless they're DOT approved they're still illegal to use.

The other option is standard bulbs for longer life:

and some modest LED lights like the Rigid Industries SR-M. Those look like terrific lamps that will add far more useful lumens than fancy bulbs, without being so obnoxious that you could never use them in any traffic.

SRM2 Driving

They're 700 or 1050 lumens per lamp which is no more obnoxious than driving in traffic with the factory fog lamps on provided you aim them appropriately, but they give a superior type of light for scotopic vision, and of course the beam is much more focused, especially the driving lamps (but even the "flood" and "diffused" versions are much narrower beams than factory fog lamps). In simple terms, you choose the beam-width based on your road speed during expected use.
