Default 2003 Disco SE Manual Tranny

Hi all. New member here. I'm not too knowledgable on these vehicles, looking for advice before buying. Thinking of purchasing a 2003 Disco SE. It has stock automatic transmission and I'd like manual transmission. Anyone swapped a manual transmission into this make? Is it possible? Affordable? Manageable? Thanks.

After reading the threat @mollusc posted, that is going to be a ton of work, and a parts it is not a simple swap. I would suggest you stick with the automatic and get everything else sorted out, then switch if you want.

The only manual I found for sale was 2200 US, and you still need to buy additional parts.

@XRAD he had an 04 so it should have already had the locking T-case

I found Conrad's thread almost immediately after posting last night.... looks like a beast of a project. Definitely satisfying once all is said and done. I'll probably just stick to the auto tranny.

He also references the shift lock ability in some of the later posts, and you can see that the t-case lever has the lock symbols on top of it.

You know what , I missed that. I just saw the pic of his tunnel cover and it was not slotted for locking shifter... guess he opened it up later
