Exclamation 2003 disco se Multiple problems

Hi i was thinking about purchasing a 2003 disco se and the dealer showed me a number of problems it had with it. The list price was 6984 and he even said that we had room to negotiate that down. The problems associated are:

The check engine light was on and some catalytic converter damage was noticed.

The right and left rear turn signals arnt operable.

The valve cover gaskets are seaping.

the left rear axle seal is leaking on the rotor and pads.

Oil leaks at pan gasket area.

Transfer case leaking.

i just wanted to know what you guys thought this would cost, whether they would reoccur, and whether or not everybody here thought that this was a good deal.

Makes me wonder whats causing cat damage. Were there other codes associated with the engine light? Besides flashing SES? Is the light still on? Did you test drive?

Valve cover gaskets are no big thing, either replace or tighten down.

Transfer case leak could be really simple and easy or complicated and expensive. If it's the cover plate then you just have to reseal it. But if its a main seal then that sucks. My t-case leaks and many peoples t-cases leaks. White Sheppard is a decent stop gap. Just make sure it has fluid in it.

I'd probably stay away. $4500 tops and that if its in immaculate shape, there could be unknowns we dont know about here.

Where are you located?
I am going to assume this is a non Rover dealer and they know nothing about these trucks.
Excessive random cylinder mis-fires can set off a check engine code for catylist damage.
In other words, it needs a good tune up.
Leaking valve covers is a $5 fix.
Leaking axle seal is another $5 fix.
Leaking t-case, depends on where it is leaking from, $5 in parts, labor depends on where its leaking.
Engine oil pan leaking is, are you ready? $5 fix.
All of this is ASSuming DIY repairs.
Tell them you will drive it off of their lot for $4000, go no higher than $4500.
Walk away at anything over $4500.

To pay to have this work done you are looking at $3-4,000.

Just so you are aware, on a D2 you have to remove the upper intake manifold to remove the valve covers. You may want to get a new gasket, although I have heard of people re-using the upper intake gasket but I wouldn't since it's a metal crush type gasket.

If you tighten the valve cover bolts that stops the leaks 98% of the time.
The $5 cost is in the correct sized socket, 8mm 12 point.

I guess tightening 2 of the 4 bolts on each cover would slow a leak down somewhat.

It has 80000 miles on it and it isnt a Rover dealership. I am located in central nj. I test drove it and it ran exceptionally smoothly.

Will you be able to get it inspected if CEL is on (varies by area)? Not a good plan to buy a pasture ornament. Would also want to plug is a scanner and watch engine coolant temp while driving and at at idle. The factory gauge is not reliable. Any gurgle noises under dash (air or exhaust in coolant)? There is an exhaust gas in coolant chemical test, have dealer perform this while you watch.
