Default 2003 disco U-joints?

I read that the u-joints should be changed at 60,000 miles or serious problems can happen. I called atlantic british and the gentleman I spoke to said yes, it is the one big issue to address on the disco. He said the whole front driveshaft should be replace at the cost of $639 for the part. This did not sound correct because I looked in the catalog and the price was $330 something.I called back and spoke to someone else and they said that the driveshaft-u-joint issue is only on the disco's till 2002 and that I don't need to replace those parts. Please tell me the correct answer. Thanks in advance, New member , Porschebreath.

You be the judge, crawl under your truck, flash light in had and inspect the constant velocity joint where it attaches to the t/case. If there are no grease fitting on the 2 u-joints, then you have an expensive repair waiting to happen.
This pertains to all D2's, with no exception and worst case can cost you in excess of $7000 to repair if it fails at highway speeds.
