Well after many attempts to clean the factory connectors to the positive side of the battery it became apparent that the cable ends were corroded. I replaced with a parts store connector. I was extremely skeptical that this would work. Well to my surprise IT WORKS!!!! I’ve only driven about 20 miles since the repair but still don’t have service engine light on.
I’m going to keep this thread going and move on to the next issue. I’m not sure how to change the title but I would like to change it to “2003 discovery 2 bringing back to life after sitting for 2 years”. Any help to change the title is appreciated
The next issue I’m dealing with is with the transmission. I went to take the fill plug out to check the level and the pan was under pressure. As I got the plug loose it sprayed fluid out. Vehicle had sat 2 hours since being driven. I’ve now dropped the pan (didn’t break any bolts!!) and ordered a new gasket and screen. Is the pan being under pressure normal, doesn’t seem normal to me. What would cause it to be under pressure?

Thanks so much for the help. Engine was not running. Any help as to where the breather tube would be? I’m assuming out the top of the transmission. I will be home tonight so I will look but any direction is always appreciated.
Even if the engine is off, the transmission fluid should only flow out rather than burst/spurt/splatter. That's a strong indication that you have a blocked breather, but even so, you need to check/fill the level with the engine running.
Found the breather. Melted completely closed. Clipped the melted end and secured with zip ties hopefully out of the way. New gasket and screen will be here tomorrow. If I have time I will get everything back in place tomorrow night. Thank you for all the help. Next item on the list is a broken air filter top and rotted hose. Will post pics of the trans service and the intake issues as we progress. Thanks again for all the help.
