tell me I'm not reading this correctly, you are not saying you put over $8000 into a 98 Disco and it didn't include an engine?

I've done a lot to my D2. Maybe I should sell it. I'll be happy to get half that.

$8k for a dealer price with lots of new parts isn't too bad. A local dealer sold a '01 for about the same with no new parts (and likely a blown head gasket knowing these trucks).
