Default 2003 Discovery II windshield Wipers

On my Discovery the passenger wiper arm nut loosened in a downpour. it quit advancing but the wipers continued to operate. I tightened the nut but it appeared the inside of the round part that fits onto the shaft was stripped. the wipers work, but does the inside circle have grooves that bite into the shaft. mine appeared smooth and some dust from the wear was present. do I need to replace the wiper arm ?

Sounds like a perfect time to switch to the D1 wiper arms which allows for blade replacement at any place that sells wiper blades.

I agree, switch to a "New" set of D1 wiper arms and then add any of the new generation 21" wiper blade, you will like the difference.
Also remember to tighten the pivot nut at least once a year in the future.

Other than online, Advance Auto carries them for a local option. About 20 bucks a pop.

Can get a D1 kit (2 arms, 2 blades, 2 caps) from rovers north for a decent price (tho they aren't known for their cheap prices). $45 for the after market kit, $65 for the genuine kit Rovers North - The Source for Classic Land Rover Parts - WIPER BLADE CONVERSION DISCOVERY II FRONT

I happen to live only 40 mins away from them so I drove up the other day and picked up a kit myself. They only come with 18 in blades but they're still infinitely better than the D2 setup. A lot less junk in your way and you can use any replacement blade of your choosing.

Yep, got mine there and they work great.. I live in South Florida and it doesn't rain... It comes down in sheets!

An alternative to keeping your D2 arms is upgrading the spring. I went down to Lowes and picked up an assorted box of springs for $5 bucks added an additional spring to each side and it makes a world of difference. I still have to order D2 blades but they really dont cost that much more than ones at autozone. I think i saw on another thread that you can just buy the rubber blade part, going to try this out next time.
