Default 2003 Discovery transmission lights flashing

Hey new to the forums here. I have a 2003 Discovery thats giving me some fits with either transmission or electrical. The S and M lights for sport and manual are flashing. Along with the D for Drive light. The car is pushing some really high RPMs when it drives and feels like its in the wrong gear or something. Any ideas?

Oh I forgot to say that the Car recently wouldn't start so I took off the hot battery terminal and cleaned some corrosion off with a wire brush. I was able to start afterwards but that is when my trouble with the lights began. Maybe bad battery? Or do I need to charge it up?

As per your owners manual, do not drive, take it straight into a shop, be it a tranny shop or the dealer.

A bad ground somewhere can cause this, check every terminal you can for corrosion. If it resets when you restart after that you may be ok, otherwise don't drive in degraded mode except right to the dealer since you're in 3rd all the time.
