Default 2003 front to 2001 Disco....

hi to all....
recently my 2001 Disco receives a bumper crash... and it is a long story.. so lets get to the point of the thread,,,,

I was thinking in buy a 2004, 2003 model and change the complete front and rebuild the front of my 01 Disco....but before do it.... I would like to hear any advice from the experts of the forum...

Is this possible to do it with out a major job...??? It is easy? How different are the two fronts????

I can do all the job by myself.... I am a shadow mechanic since I remember... at 10 years old, I start doing it....so I think I can do it.... just need to know if there are big issues to do it.....

Thanks., for your attention ....
Regards...

Here --> Discovery - headlight conversion to 2003 on lights - Land Rover Zone

Honestly, your best be would be to just use the search function and have a look at all the previous threads regarding this. Everyone has their own 'slightly' different method of going about it. However none of them are an easy bolt on plug and play job.

You will have to cut almost all the existing headlamp brackets and housing off the truck and fabricate new mounting points, and also cut/splice into the wiring harness to make the new headlamps work. Or you can remove the entire core-support, order an 03/04 support, and tack weld it into place.

I did mine in a day with three people, two people who are very good mechanically and one who is a mechanic genius. So your conversion experience may differ. Whatever the case, be prepared to do a lot of this.

Haha street, I had to do mine through the ARB bumper as well... would have been so much easier without it!

Oh yeah, I hear you. I'm pretty sure I remember "Damn ARB bumper" being the statement of the day.

I ended up removing the top bolt on each chassis rail, and loosening the bottom one for more room.

ok, ok.... well I need to replace this....

complete front bumper 700
one headlight 120
one turn signal front 40
one fog light 150

around 1000.00 dlls or more.... so.. I think if I Can get a Disco in an auction..like copart,, crashed ,, that has the front in good conditions and then change all the good parts to my Disco...and keep more extra parts too.... That is why I asking about the possibility to get an 03, 04 Disco and grab the complete front and put it to my 01 Disco... Could it work, could not.... as Wolf says... it needs to change the front support...so the headlight fits nice. ..ok...ok..... lets see what I decide... anyway...It is possible to do it... Easy way.. 01 to 01,,, Hard way...03 and up to 01
Thanks a lot for reading and answering to this post

If you can get a rear-end totalled 04 that'd be ideal. That way if you have the locking t-case you can transfer the linkage. Try to find one that is the same color as yours, that would be most ideal.

If you're going to buy an entire 03/04 Discovery. Then you have absolutely no reason 'not' to drilled out the core support and tack weld the newer support into your truck. That is the right way of doing it.
