i just picked up a 2003 Disco II and it only came with one key, it wont light up i changed the battery etc. maybe got wet? anyways i had an old key from my 2000 Disco II, is there a way i can use that and program it myself or do i have to take it to the dealer. i hope i dont need to buy a new fob/key!

My understanding is you can't use a FOB from another and try to program it for your new truck unless you have asigned number to the old FOB. I think your best would be to keep your eye open on e-bay, they show up there quite often and can be purchased for a decent price, then go to a small Rover shop and have them program your FOB.

 

both backs to the key say - ce 0165 maybe they all do? thanks tho i will keep an eye out on the ebay!

 

If you don't have the program number for the old FOB, you can't use it on a new vehicle. This number is like a 6 to 8 digit numer that must be entered into the ECU.
