Default Oat coolant.

Just my 2 cents. I'm not sure about the colour of coolants, but Land Rover specifies "OAT" coolant. I believe it's something to do with acid levels.
Don't quote me on that.
We can buy OAT here at Canadian Tire, looks to me like most European cars use it so should be readily available.

LR specifies Dexcool. The orange stuff.

It is fine as long as your system is in perfect order.

Most of us however have long since flushed that out and went with universal green/blue 50/50 premix.

The problem with the Dex is that it will coagulate when it contacts air, water, or anything other than itself. That sludge will become concrete in your radiator, if not the whole system.

Performance is the same either way, but i suspect they used Dex for reasons other than practicality.

Dave is right about the Dec, almost all of us swear by universal green.

I saw you said you were pulling the front cover. If you're pulling it, I'd replace the oil pump gears either way. They'll be getting worn by this age and you don't want to risk one cracking and screwing a bearing or something.

I'm just waiting for free time. My buddy has me doing odd and ends to his Chevelle. It's tiresome having the grease monkey wrench gene sometimes, especially after work in the middle of summer. Thanks for the tips. I'll report back with everything I find.
