Appreciate all the input here guys. I am going to change the oil to Rotella and filter, looking around at posts about the oil filter sandwich to find models etc...

So don't put me on blast here.... but with all the oil consumption / noise part of me wants to invest $0 in working on the 4.6, a big part of me wants to let her go with regular services and see how far she makes it, then go with an ACE conversion and be done with it. It pains me to say it but the time I invest in chasing this issue could just be spent doing the swap and being done.

CAN anyone tell me what thread glow shift adapter to buy? nvm found it in another post
HERE HERE

I have ordered the parts to test the oil pressure and temps once I go to change the oil.

if your going the way of the swap than drive it like you stole it, that swap is probably going to cost you about 10 k

If you haven't noticed a 125k D2 is 10K RN, I can do the swap for around 5k US, although ACE did say they have a recent price increase.

its your money, but it sounds like you have the mechanical wherewithal to pin liners. would cost you $100 for oil, gaskets and some bolts and loctite.

seems like money is not the issue.

Imo I would essentially rebuild any LS or motor I would swap in and that would push you over the 5k swap threshold. Also again just my opinion but I would spend the time and money to upgrade to a 6L80 or 6L90 gm trans..

@tuverman, yes excess pressure from a clogged breather can cause excessive oil loss
