Default 2004 CDL Light?

Hi all - I just purchased a 2004 disco and am wondering about the CDL functionality. Apparently a warning light is supposed to come on when engaging the CDL. Mine does not, though it also doesn’t come on when I turn the key to the on position (without starting).

The transfer case stick moves very slightly to the middle of the pattern, but not to the left side mirroring the position of its normal position. Honestly don’t have enough experience with the disco to know if that is the typical engaged position or not.

So my question is, should the CDL light come on with all of the other dash lights when I turn on the ignition or engage CDL and the bulb is out? Or is my CDL simply not being engaged?

Edit: climbed under the truck and noticed several connectors unplugged near the transfer case. The female ends have two wires (black and black/blue), the male ends also two wires and seem to be brown(?) and green/yellow. Guessing this might have something to do with it? Is there any reason the previous owner would have disconnected these? Any harm in plugging them back in. Does it matter which male with which female given the wire colors seem to be the same?

Plugged both of those back in but still no lights either on startup or when engaged. Noticed the transfer case neutral indicator light doesn’t work either. Verified the cdl does lock in a parking lot with tight turning circles. Pushes the front wheels as expected.

Any thoughts on further diagnosis?

could be bad switches...had a few bad ones...more than expected. You can jumper the plug to see if dash light works...
