Have you tried cleaning the gas spout with scotch brite?

Also the purge valve needs to be horizontal, make sure it is not tilted

Thanks Friday. I cleaned the gas spout today and adjusted the purge valve and zip tied it in place so it would stay. I cleared the codes so we’ll see if that helps.

Also recompressed my caliper but I am willing to bet I will need to replace it.

I have also been chasing a clank when going slow over speed bumps. I jacked the tires up 2 inches and stuck a pry bar under each. I could see any play or replicate the sound. I did find a potential warn out bushing? See pics below. Seems like a gap on one side but not the other? Not sure what part this is yet.

Recompress the caliper

Drivers side. Big gap. No bushing?

Passenger side. Seems like there is a bushing here.

No joy on the gas spout or the leveling of the purge valve. Time to move on to the vacuum tubes.

Wow! just read about the liners...that is one expensive rebuild. So just refreshing what we have with new rings, bearings seals and new oil pump i would think it would be just a few thousand say under 5K if i have the heads sent out but i would probably do the rest of the rebuild...

And, heads are easy to rebuild, but I couldn't get the machine work and new parts done for how cheap I got the remanufactured heads.

@RoverSE7 the cost @Sixpack577 figured out is about, what I figured with a used pressure tested block if I had a crack. Since then I found I can order darton top hatted liners and the local machine shop will install if I wanted to go that way. So 600 cdn for liners and about 1500 for install. That is still a lot cheaper than a turner short block.

I hope it is for you too.
I think I would try a torque wrench at 70' lbs on all the head bolts before you take them out.
I'de still do the head gasket job, but just for curiosity.
Since you previously wondered if one had came loose.
It'll only take a minute to hit them all and find out for sure.
