Power Steering Woes
Well lucky me. I cleaned/dried up the steering box and steering pump. Replaced the clamp on the pump. Drove it for a bit and let it sit overnight. Looks like I have leaks in both the pump and box. Here goes another $500. 🤬
All this started happening after I did the flush and fill sticky. Guess the flush dislodged a bunch of crud that was keeping the fluid from leaking. I知 going to give the blue devil stop leak a try - nothing to lose.

4/25 Update
Replaced a leaking power steering pump and all three hoses. The high pressure was a PIA to replace because it ran down the front of the radiator but I am glad I did. It was highly corroded and looked like it would blow at any moment. Pump installation was easy - just followed the video from AB.
I did nick one of the o rings on the reservoir return. I hope that won稚 be an issue but if it starts leaking i can replace the o ring relatively quickly. I値l just keep and eye on it for now. I値l be back in there again when I replace the steering box.

Replaced the drivers side lock actuator with a used part from Will Tillery $60 and it came a a few days. Whole job took about 2.5 hours and I was taking my time doing it.
Previous video from Mr. Foreman was immensely helpful. Followed along with the YouTube video on my chromebook while I worked on it and paused it as needed. Not sure I can add much to that but I have a few tips.

This was a used part. I cleaned it up with some contact cleaner to get a lot of dirt and hunk out of it. Then lubed it up with wd-40 and silicone spray.

One of the trickier parts is unlatch this mechanism but if you watch the video and have good lighting, it’s pretty straightforward.
The hardest part was putting the actuator back in. In the video Mr Foreman looks like he is putting it in through the bottom opening but I found the second opening was easier. Only issue was angling it around the window frame.

4/28 Update
Looks like the new power steering pump and hoses has fixed a large portion of my leak. The steering box is still leaking but it痴 not bad enough to cause a stain on the driveway so I will hold off a bit on repairing that.
I知 also playing around with some more product from Design Engineering (DEI). I知 going to try out their Reflect-A-Cool product on the air box and air tube. I値l do some before and after temp measurements on the MAF temp sensor to see if it makes any noticeable difference.
Obviously the goal here is to reduce air intake temps as close to ambient as possible. Cooler air is more dense so will this make a difference in fuel efficiency? Probably not noticeably, but I will post my results once they are in.
Still a small leak from the lower seal of the steering box but the overall condition is much improved!
This is the DEI product I chose to try out on the air box and tube. Initially I tried to go cheap and bought an off brand tape but it came off after a week. We値l see how this does.
