Default 2004 Disco 2 Key Stuck No Start possible immobiliser or other issue ?

Have an odd situation which is probably a regular situation for Disco Owners. We recently transported our working 2004 Discovery 2 Across the ocean to our temporary home. Before it got put into container all systems worked. I believe they detached the battery in transit and never armed security system whilst leaving key in the ignition for about 15 days. Once it got to destination it would not start so they had to winch onto trailer to drop off for us. Upon receipt key is stuck in ignition and will not turn over. We attached jumper cables to battery to get the some life into it and get the gear to shift into neutral so we could roll it off trailer. Fob does lock and unlock but it is next to immobiliser coil since key is in ignition so it shows no security light. We have a local mechanic we trust taking a look at it. Trying to get some ideas as to what any Disco Aficionados think is possibly going on. Do we have to get the key out and go through a security relearn using eka? Is this a possibile BCU dying breath situation? Corroded connection on BCU ? Any ideas/direction is appreciated. I figure we get key situation sorted and install retrofit key barrel then see what happens from there? Thanks in advance to anyone providing some possibilities.

I'd remove the ignition switch, and get the key out personally.
