2004 Disco gas cap failure
What's up with the gas caps failing on an annual basis? The previous owner put a new one on right before I bought it then last week I had to replace it. Both were OE parts. The new one screws on easily while the old one would screw on hard and start ratcheting before it was seated all the way on the gas cap gasket causing it to throw a engine code because of vacuum leak. What gives? Any better solutions? Is the plastic expanding over time?

Global warming.
Cheap gas.
Premium gas with additives.
Gas with higher alcohol content than your beer.
Planned service money maker for the stealership. They probably charge an hour for disconnecting battery while this is done.
All the quality control available by student age labor with partying on their mind.
Your failure to roast meat to honor the Rover gods.
Lack of full service gas stations with that velvet touch.
