Pressure release??
Does your cap tighten up all the way, or does it have the common late model issue?

sound like you have a possible blocked gas tank vent, that sound like the cap going off.

Not sure if you need to do this, but maybe it will help you diagnose your problem. Maybe a blocked or kinked hose?
