It looks like the 2003 and 2004 Disco's have an oil separator in the fitting for the breather hose but how does it come out? I pulled the hose off and all I can see is the metal pipe coming up from the v/c is closed at the top with just a small hole in the center. Does the v/c have to come off?......

 

what does the RAVE manual say?

 

I have looked through it but all I found is a layout of the crankcase ventilation system
but nothing on removing it.

The metal sleeve pulls out of the valve cover. Within the metal sleeve is the plastic oil separator. Mind the direction the plastic separator goes back into the metal sleeve.

Why do you want to remove it? If plugged spray carb cleaner down the pipe a couple of times and that normally fixes it.
