Default The 3 amigos are back

The 3 Amigos have been on and off lately, always going off after a shutdown and restart. Had the codes read at my dealer. ABS sytem errors came up for "shuttle valve switch electrical fault" and "right rear solenoid valve short to battery". Dealer recommended replacing the "shuttle valve switches" and the "solenoid pack". He said part cost was $1000 and labor would be $200.

Two questions:
1) Dealer told me that there was a large shuttle valve kit available that included both the shuttle valves and the solenoid pack. At Atlantic British I see a $70 shuttle valve repair kit and a $770 modulator valve kit. Does anyone know if the $770 kit is the one my dealer was referring to as including the solenoid pack?

2) Is this a reasonable job to tackle myself, including the solenoid pack part?

Elliot

I personally would try the shuttle valve kit first before condeming anything else as its a reletavily cheap and easy repair.

Elliot,
Have your brakes been squeaking? If you throw a panic stop from 30MPH on a loose surface, do you still feel the ABS pulsation?

its not hard to do at all, usually the switches wont fix it, but never seen one that the solenoids didnt take care of

Hey Mike, no the brakes are not squeaking. The ABS seems to work fine when the dash lights are off. Tested them on a slippery metal plate in the rain the other day. I have not been able to test the ABS when the lights were on. The lights seem to come on randomly. Mostly when I hit the brakes, but some times they come on when I am just driving along smooth road. Today I drove 70 miles around town with no lights, yesterday they came on a mile after I left home. I know I have lots of brake pad left, not so sure about disc thickness.

Probably need to get the codes read, when the lights are on and see what shows up.
