Coolant in sump, too. I would never purchased the rover if I had to continually replace head gaskets. What a waste of a nice SUV. My TR-6 was so much better engineered, as were the older series Land Rovers. I might side line this disaster, and save for a "Turner engine". How much will that cost me?? On a side note; my great grandfather came from England, and then from Canada, dropped down to Detroit Michigan, and rumor has it that he helped Henry Ford build his first car. Neat. Even he bailed on the British car scene.

Give them a call for a quote. Speak to Richard Turner and he may be able to help you and save you some dosh.

The good old TR6, old being the operative word, was OK but that was a 45 year old car but the Stag V8 was a disaster engine wise.

Ironically, 95% of F1 cars are built in the UK, even the Haas, which tells me something. Detroit is now a derelict town and beyond the scrapheap where virtually no cars are produced today. The worldwide motor industry is becoming defunct these days and not worth anyone buying these vehicles IMHO even the VW and Mercedes cars are mobile problems.

IMHO I wouldn't waste my money on anymore modern cars as they are all destined for the scrapheap in the near future the way the eco warriors are dictating. In all honesty I think diesels were the optimum vehicles but the politicians have called the death knell for those also. We will all be driving Noddy cars in the next 10 years.

The only time I have had coolant in the oil was a cracked block. But, I guess it could be the valley pan gasket as well.

Taking rover back to mechanic who promised me the world. Guarantee this and that, lets see if he honors his word. Time to buy a Kia.

Good luck with your mechanic, don't take any **** from him, decide on a strategy before you arrive there and what you need to achieve from him.

Should I have expected better longevity?? Whats the standard?? My motor was rebuilt with new and improved components. I put less than 8,000 a year on the rig.
