340ft tourque wrench
front main seal on a 2000 discovery and i need to torque the crank bolt ..called local shops and every auto store in town and no luck .. called on RV repair shop but wanted to charge 150 bucks to come but 1 nut on... I have found 300ftlb torque wrench ... so could i max that out ..then give it a little bump more and call it good ? ..
on the Manual i have it says the crank bolt is (340 lbf.ft)
also I read you can "bump" the engine to help free the bolt using a pry bar on the ground and removing your fuel pump fuse.. ok easy enough ..but here is a dumb question .. is that before or after you drain the oil .. ? i would think after because once it breaks the oil would come out like crazy ... but does it harm the engine to "bump" it with no oil ?

The oil won't come out like crazy if you just get the bolt loose, so you can drain it afterwards. But every time you start your engine, the first few seconds there is no oil pressure so bumping the starter with no oil in the pan is not much different than starting the engine.
Regarding the torque issue, a pipe on a breaker bar with you standing on it in the right place works too. 170 lbs. at 2 ft. is the same as 340 lbs. at 1 ft. A little tough to do on the crank bolt though. If you check the tool flyers at the counter of a real parts store, they usually have ATD or some other overseas brand 3/4 in. drive torque wrenches for a reasonable price. Maybe you could start your own torquing business and charge only $125 per nut. You could put that other shop out of business in no time.

You're looking at the TD5. If that's what you've got that explains the issue. Most of us have the V8, and the spec in Rave is 200 lbf.ft.
