might sound a stupid question but i don't know.

So yes, it is in 4wheel drive both in High and Low range. Also being you have a 2001, you might also have a locking t/case, CDL, which is a hugh pluys if you really like to get out and play.

Agree with Mike - the locking T-box is, IMHO, better than the traction control fitted to the later ones. Where in the UK are you Craig? Got a bunch of us going playing on Salisbury plain 26th August if you can make it?
hi adz
i'm just outside nottingham, i have the traction control version with ace cornering hydraulics.
have got the workshop manuals on cd now so looking through it to see whats what.

Heard about this recently, apparently all isn't lost if you've got the TC and ACE - some of the early TC equiped ones still had the internals for the locking t-box, just not the external lever and linkage. You can, if you've got the right t-box (not saying yours is or isn't, just might be) retro fit the linkage and lever and have the best of both worlds.
Pity you're as far North as Nottingham, it's a bit of a long bike ride just for a day out really. I'll let you know if we come up country at all
Cheers,

Cheers,
I may have nothing wrong. On ice, low range, 1999 Discovery II, sudden acceleration will spin the front and rear wheels. High range only the front spin. Shouldn't the rear try also? Sudden braking on ice slides the wheels without the ABS shudder I am used to with other vehicles. Does this sound normal for the vehicle?
The high to low range selector was stuck in high but it seemed to be just never used. Once I got it to work, it is improving each time. Will clean and lube and sure to improve.
I am new to Rovers but not uncomfortable with repairs. Did the head gaskets, found the hose vent issue already.
