Is 400-500 rpm idle normal?

Your idle is not fine, sorry Spike. D2's idle at around 1200 on a cold start and drop to 700 to 750 at operating temp, in gear with or without the A/C on.

Only one problem with that Mike, without using a scanner that can read the engine rpm he has no idea what the idle rpm actually are.
You have said it yourself more than once that the tac is not accurate.

You know I have watched the needle bounce just a little!!!!
But we cant forget the whole resone I even noticed it was it was running a little rough before the throttle cleaning! that dont mean it is fixed though just hasnt happend yet!

Yes, the tach, like most of Rovers gauges are not the most accurate, but if it is really showing low, it worth checking out.

I have a update My check engine light came on two days ago and this morning went off as I was going down to get my codes read but it did have a code P0301 cyl 1 misfire so I pulled the plug closes to the air filter I think that's cyl 1 and looked brand new so I put it all back together? So I guess its a bad spark plug wires?? could it be any thing else?
