Don't feel too bad. This will only work if its one of the rear wheels that's spinning which is typically not going to be the case.

Ha!

Factory workshop manual http://landroverresource.com/docs/D2...hop_Manual.pdf says 70/30 front/rear weight distribution.

You've got that heavy motor, front axle, transmission, and transfer case all up front weighing on your front wheels.

That makes it really easy to spin your rear 2 wheels on your Disco!

Got it backwards, rear of a disco 2 is heavier than front.

Just how the distribution turned out.

Light motor, centralized tranny and transfer case, huge steel body with ridiculous overhang beyond rear centerline.

Hence stiffer rear spring rate and higher recommended rear tire pressure.

Old thread, the 95 D1 5 spd w/4.6 I own is rear heavy biased like 52% rear vs 48% front I recall, this while parked empty no passengers or gear in the rear.
Stabbing the foot brake will stop any spinning wheel, a quick stab without causing stalling w/5 spd vs torque converter being below stall speed allowing converter slippage, adding throttle you can cheat a little.
Even with CDL locked you can get into trouble and stuck with open diffs at both ends, your now STUCK STUCK a little deeper and worse off that's about all. Locking CDL with locking diffs now your talking provided you have the horsepower especially torque. Talking torque at low rpm's doing good vs an engine you have to rev up before torque enters into the picture then spinning wheels madly digging youself into deeper ruts. Winch time......~~=o&o>.......
