well considering you cant find a coolant leak anywhere, focus on fixing that injector. obviously keep checking your coolant levels. did you every take a look insider cylinder#8 ?

I ordered the injector for #8 cylinder and will be installing myself. Is there anything I should know or look out for prior to pulling the truck apart? Do I need any special tools?

I understand the new injector comes with new O rings on it, but do I need to replace the other 7 O-rings that go into the intake? If so, can any type of O ring be used that I can go pick up at the local hardware store?

Plus is there a special kind of silicone that needs to be used when I push them back into the intake?

Is the retainer clip re-usable or is it trashed once I pull the injector out? I wrench on my cars all the time, just never replaced an injector berfore?

I ordered the parts on Sat and still have not rec'd them yet. I will keep everone posted once I make the repair.

Ironically while checking for coolant leeks, my PS pump failed and started growning and spilling fluid all over the ground. (See my other receint thread) So in addition to the injector, I have those parts coming as well. The truck has been sitting all week.

Here is the update:

Received new injector and new o-rings for other 7 injectors. I figured i'd be safe and put fresh o rings on the others when I pull the fuel rail. (I don't want to have any fuel leaks or fires)

As luck would have it, When I was removing the upper half of the intake manifold I was in the process of removing the bolts that hold the coil pack bracket to the back of the intake. I drop a screw and can not find it now. I am affraid it went into the intake runner. So i'm at a stand still until I can determine if the screw is in either the #7 or # 8 cylinder. I searched the valley of the intake, top of the motor, top of the tranny, etc.

I tried putting a magnet down the intake runner but no luck. Looking for any tips or sugestions to keep me from tearing the motor down to not find it in the cylinder.

On another note - I noticed that cylinder # eight intake runner is fouled. I am not sure why this would be so far up the intake if the injector was hanging up and dumping fuel into the cylinder b/c the injector is down stream?????

Any sugestions?

Can always run the bore scope by one night. Seems like every screw I drop always ends up on top of the tranny though. ;-)

Ps, did you see the D2 broke down on the side of 50 by the bridge in Annapolis today? I was going to pull over and help but they had already wondered off.
