5 speed question
I was perusing the local junkyard, and came across a '94 (I think) disco, with a 3.9, and a standard. Would this 5 speed be able to be swapped into my 2003 with a 4.6? Would it be able to handle the additional hp, and torque? Is it a bad idea?
Not sure, but if it's an R380 then it is documented to fit. The whole process is outlined in this thread: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...al-swap-79203/
R380 was made for the buick 215 series V8s, 380 was the Newton-meter spec it was built to handle.
You will need all the ancillaries, and don't forget to get rid of the interlock solenoid on your transfer case, the manuals don't use those.
the 4.6 is only 220 hp, 280 lb/ft new? that torque value is nearly 380 so its up there. If you drive it like a normal person it should be fine.

Awesome. Thanks for all the info. That thread is perfect. If I decide to go for it, I will make sure I have more expertise than my own helping me. My Dad is ALWAYS up for this kind of ingenuity. I could tackle it by myself, but tinkering is always funner with someone to b.s. with.
All the details like that are in the thread I linked to earlier.
