Mike- Do you recommend Royal Purple Gear Oil as well?

I just dumped about $500 into British Atlantic, and have located a Royal Purple dealer not too far from my house. I plan on going tonight and getting:

2x 12 quarts of ATF fluid

2x 2 quarts of syntehic power steering fluid

and 2x 7 quarts of 80/90W Synthetic oil.

ALSO- I will be towing a light travel trailer to Colorado, and then probably down to Arizona, through Texas, and then back up to Michigan this summer- should I get something other than 80/90W, or will that be the best?

THANK YOU!!!

If you order the DI Magnecor plug wires they will fit your DI.

just fyi...

my mechanic who works on all imports including land rovers, recommends not doing the atf flush as it will cause too many problems afterwards. i think he mentioned that it can cause a motor to seize.

anyone else here got the same advice?

Your mechanic does not know what he is talking about. This is a process that has been done for 20 plus years, most likely long before he got his first wrench.

He understands you do NOT drive it with the ATF in the engine, doesn't he?

I have not heard of any problems with anybody who has done this, I did mine about 5000 miles ago and no problems.

i don't blame the guy for being cautious, and he's done great work for me in the past on my scout, and friends wagoneer.

he recommended doing a different flush with a machine of sorts.
i'll more than likely do the service myself when im not working 15 days in row straight.

my power steering went out so when i took it to him for fixin, i brought up the service.
my 97 disco has about 119,000 miles on it, and i just bought it (for a great deal) from a small dealer here in la.

So did anybody ever come up with a total price for this service?

What price are you looking for, my service list, if so, about $350 including the 8 mm Magnacor wires is the total for all the parts.
