My 96 DI SD (Man trans) won't start. I have recently replaced fuel filter, plugs, wires etc. Not the problem. Months later I tried to reset the check engine light via the Emission Maint. Reminder (AMR 5551). That reset the light for about 10 miles. Oh well, I am sure the 02 is erratic asI have put 122K on the vehicle. *Back to the little brown maint. reminder box. This box is located on the PAX side lower kick panel. Also located here are several relays (AC/Starter etc.). While I had all of these down, I ended up with a water issue (leak) now these relays and the Emission Maint. reminder do-hickey were soaked and now corroded. Two months of sitting and I got around to replacing the yellow starter relay and now it turns over fine.Fuel psi great, no bad fuses with alarm or others I could find. Fuel shutoff on firewall good, no alarm light etc. I did notice the door locks do not function properly (won't lock automatically anymore) but I have not replaced all the relays in this area that were damaged (green/yellow).

***Will a bad or malfunctioning Emission Maintenence reminder prevent the truck from starting, or inhibit any of the ECU's in any way???? Thanks for helping me with my stupidity!
