Default 96 disco O2 sensor/ camshaft sensor/help

This is my first post.I have a 96 Disco. I have just replaced water pump and all that entales. The car had sat for 4 months b/4 I could finally do this.In school work etc.. Ran great for two days and then started knocking like crazy when I accelerated/ bogged down and will not go over 10 mph. hooked it up to computer and O2 and camshaft sensor came up. Surely the camshaft sensor alone cannot be the problem. Is this worth fixing. Love the truck, but I am going to have to take this to the shop. I feel this is now the beginning of continuous problems. suggestions?

Well, since it sat for 4 months I would say that you have a tank of bad gas. Fill it back up with premium and run it to empty, refill with the proper gas, (premium) and add a big bottle of fuel injector cleaner.
Then have the codes cleared and wait and see.

The camshaft sensor plug is just above the oil filter,,,I think you could have gotten the plug wet
when you changed the water pump ,, look there first ,pull it apart and clean it out and put dieletric grease
back in the plug.
It's hard to get both hands in there, good luck.

holy crap it worked. The truck sounded like it was going to explode and would not go over 5 mph. Fresh gas and some cleaner runs like a top.

Let me first say, welcome to the dark side. This forum and the knowledge that gets passed on here is just as addictive as driving a rover is. You'll find that most things on these trucks are pretty simple. They are built to be reliable and easy to repair in the field.
