Repairing or replacing a torn vinyl seat cover?
My 2003 S model Discovery has the driver's side seat cover starting to tear and fray. It is at the point where you slide your body into the car, both the upper and lower but just at that first upolstered panel of fabric.
I'm considering getting an estimate from a local car upolstry shop but wonder if I should also consider just ordering a new OEM cover. Has anyone had any luck with matching the existing covers with local shops or is better to just order a pre-made cover from LR or one of the other LR suppliers?
I plan to go ahead and add the heating panel elementsto the seat as I already added the switches as I had to repalce a broken switch panel.

I've had a local automotive upholstery shop repair a couple seats bottoms for me in the past and the results were perfect. They were able to get the exact fabric patterns and vinyl and did a perfect job. They fixed or replaced the foam. I was so impressed and the cost wasn't that high. In my case, it was money well spent and really changed the dynamic of the vehicle from a misused rig, to one that was babied. I've been involved with street rod projects where entire interior projects were done. The hard part for most upholstery shops is getting it done in a timely mannor. More of a problem for dealers than for you.
