96 Disco Rear Pads Replacement Q's
Hey guys,
1st post here, but not new to cars. I was helping a friend out last week and offered to replace her rear pads on her 96 Disco. Well it went ok less the fact that those are the weirdest calipers I have ever seen, split down the middle: WTF? Anyway, I got the old pads out, inserted the new ones the same way that the old one's were, put it all back together, and bleed the system. Now she is complaining of MASSIVE grinding noises from the rear brakes. I haven't looked at it yet, but any guesses, or advise on a step I may have missed while changing the rear pads?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Todd

The only thing i can think of is you didnt descale the edges of the rotors (discs in uk) and they are picking up on the old rust deposits ,these get stuck in the new pads and make a terrible noise ,check the state of the new pads and see ,let me know how you get on Paul Landrover Tech in the uk.

You shouldn't be getting any noise, I would pull the wheels down ASAP before any damage is done and inspect. Did you match up and compare the old pads to the new ones for size and style?

if the brakes are not pulling. the problem is im the rotor, pads. the other possible is that one of the two compression valves is stuck. hope it helps, gotta love a rover. duboff.
