Default 96 Disco Window Issues

New Disco Owner. (96 Disco SD) Love the forum.

At issue are both the rear windows. Will only actuate up/down after vehicle has been running now for 20 minutes [approx.]. Started weeks after purchase in March but was only about 2 minutes. Has now gotten progressively worse. Front windows work fine.

Any ideas or suggestions.

Its the window relay thats behind the glove box.
Sometime you can pull out and resolder the cold looking spots.
It worked on mine until I went off roading now mines back to 5 mins.
You can get a new power window controler for about $200 from Atlantic British.

RG, nice looking truck, it looks ... just like mine ! I also have a '96 SD. I had the exact same problem with the windows, and it is as Landzu said, the window ECU behind the glovebox. There is a spot where the solder fails. I did the resolder myself, it's not a bad job. I found a beautiful write-up with pictures. If you want, I can dig it up. Not sure if it was this forum or another LR forum I'm on that had it posted, but this is a common problem - like so many others - but once you get the bugs out you're good to go.

Rg, Here's the link -
http://www.discoweb.org/window/index.htm

It's not quite a easy as it sounds in this write-up, but it's not too bad. Mine was actually bad in exactly the same place asin here, the same one solder joint. Just flow a little solder on there and it was fine. The tricky part is getting the circuit board in and out.
