96 discovery washing under the hood?

Default 96 discovery washing under the hood?

My newly purchased 96 discovery is pretty grungy under the hood....any problems using a engine cleaner an hosing the engine compartment....also whats the best grade oil to run in the
engine?.......thanks mark

Watch out for the ecu (passenger side near the firewall) and the coil pack (behind the intake where plug wires go) and you should be ok. Just be ready. Rovers tend to leak, and there may be some gunk holding a leak back. Also make sure it is cold.

By grade, do you mean weight? where do you live? Your owner's manual has suggestions based on temp ranges. That said, I live in Oklahoma and I run the equivalent of 10W30. (It's a full synthetic racing oil). Most run 10W30 in the winter and 10W40 in the summer. Make sure and use a good quality filter like a K&N or Mobile 1 and change it regularly..
