Buy a junkyard pump or new one, which ever, go to a private mechanic, with the cost of the pump i had mine installed for around 350.
A new pump in the Disco's are easy to install, if you were able to get the screws holding the plate cover on and the ring that holds the pump in, then you should be able to change the pump. I can do my fuel pump change in less than 30 minutes start to finish and thats the new $80 pump.

The actual fuel pump swap only took a few minutes but it took me what felt like all day to get the screws out. First they were all rusted and then the heads were all stripped out. Some rust remover and a bent up flathead screwdriver later, the little bastards came out and the rest was cake.

Wow, thank you mikemeyer0 so much. I just bought my 96 discovery last tuesday and the pump went out on sat. I was afraid i was going to have to pay $300 for a new fuel pump assembly but your pump swap worked like a charm. The only problem i had was removing the tube from the old pump, but finished the whole thing in about 35 minutes in the Wal-mart parking lot with minimal tools. Thank You.

Your welcome, I did one in a auto store parking lot in Moab. Quick and easy actually. And Cheap. Did you use hose clamps on the hose that was hard to remove, I did just in case.
