Question 97 Disco I oil pressure hot days

Hi guys, when I drive my Disco on very Hot days, the oil light turns on when I'm in full stop, and turn off when im driving, I just change the oil for 5 30W, I think maybe I will need a thicker oil. I hope isn't the oil pump.

Please let me know what it can be.

Felipe

Perform an oil pressure check on the engine so that you can get some numbers, could be as simple as a bad oil pressure sender or something more seriou$ like bearings/pump. I believe the oil light comes on when pressure drops below 8psi or so.

Stop driving it till you can have the oil pressure tests performed which will mean leaving it over night then having it check cold at idle and 2000 RPM's and the same when warm. Get us the numbers and we should be able to help you. You are most likely looking at a plugged up pick up tube or a failed oil pump.

You need to use no less than 10w-40, 15w-40 is what I use.
Your oil is getting to thin and at hot idle you are losing oil pressure.
5w-30 is for newer cars.

The radiator and engine oil are in no way related and have zero effect on one another.
