16V coming through the system will make everything haywire. Don't run it until you get a new alt. They aren't too much, and it could cure all of your problems.....

 

I just got rid of my p1178 code, turns out my air filter (K&N) didnt want to play nice with my D1 MAF Sensor, I went and bought an STP airfilter and now it works perfect, not sure if that will help you or not but just my 2 cents in to help you

 

The alternator goes first before you damage anything else, after replacing it, then lets see what is still acting up and go a step at a time based on the priority.
