Default 97 Disco as parts machine for 01 Disco ?

I have an 01 Disco with 100,000 miles and I have found a 97 with 165,000 for $1500. Are the drivetrain parts all the same as my 01 ? Does the glass all fit as well ? I assume the wheels would fit but am wondering about engine, tranny, transfer case and diffs, etc. Is this a good idea or more work than it is worth ? Oh ya, it has a bush guard on the front. Would it bolt on ? Thanks in advance.

Very few D1 parts will fit a D2. It was a pretty substantial redesign.

OK guys, will take your advice and walk away. I am surprised though because i thought i read here that there were only cosmetic changes like the taillights. Thanks a lot for the info !!

Land Rover promoted that the Discovery Series II had been modified with 720 'differences'.

the only thing worth something out of that truck that will fit yours is the shift linkage, plate and sticker for the Diff Lock. and its not worth $1500.

I don't think you read that here. Like others mentioned they only look similar, nearly all the parts were changed.
