'97 SD -- leather or vinyl?
Crazy question, but I want to recondition the seats in my "new" 1997 D1 SD (no sunroofs), but can't tell for certain if they are leather. From the specs I can find online, NAS 97s came in cloth+vinyl or leather, but these don't feel like the leather seats I'm accustomed to. Anyway to tell for certain based on a factory sticker somewhere or the VIN?
Not that I'd freak if they are vinyl seats, just want to use the right cleaner and conditioner

Might have an answer to my own question tomorrow, when my Land Rover CD ROM arrives. I found a listing that claims it contains "Sales Brochure - Discovery - 1997" -- so I'll get some use out of the CD-ROM before even getting into the nitty gritty service manuals
According to the '97 NAS Sales Brochure on the publications CD-ROM, the interior upholstery options for '97 were Woven Cloth or Connolly Leather in Bahama Beige. Its not clear what the optional factory packages were for my SD model, which has upgrade seats over cloth (leather I guess) and jump seats w/ rear step. I guess I'll give the seats the old leather recondition and see how they turn out. This CD-ROM is a must have if anyone doesn't already have it for $25. Tons of info and I enjoyed browsing the accessories installation publications to learn all of the accessories LR made for the D1s.
I bought mine at an online expedition outfitter for $25 + shipping, but most of the online Rover parts retailers carry the publication CD-ROMs for $25-30. Make sure you get the NAS version for the Discovery Series I.
Totally worth it for that price, but it has the usual "manual on a CD" hassles like having to have the CD in the drive to access the PDF documents. Personally I prefer archiving my original CDs, so I'll try copying this one or making an ISO image to see if that works.
