I say it is a relay because once they go bad they are bad, there is no resetting it and it needs to be replaced.

Figured this out, different model years on the D1. This waiting on parts kills me. I sure hope it is the CKP sensor and we are up and running when it comes in.

If not, more waiting on a relay.

Gentlemen, Looks like the majority is right, relay. Got the crank sensor tonight and just got it in. Still no fuel pump noise or pressure. Guess i will order the relay tomorrow unless I am missing something.....Any other thoughts other than I told you so? I get enough of that at home........

The crank sensor was $56 with tax at Autozone.

I am ordering the relay and a fuel filter kit from AB. I could not find the relay on the Autozone website and I am figuring it will be more expensive then AB, at least that has been my experience in the past. The relay is $110 from AB and the filter kit was $25 or something. Not real sure, Just ordered it and did not look at the cost cause I know the filter needs changed!!!

The fortunate part in all of this is that every time that I have had an issue like this since purchasing our Disco back in 2006, it has either happened at our house or at my parents house, so it has never left us stranded, which could have happened if we had made it out camping this weekend and then it decided to go out.

I will post up once I get the relay and let y'all know if we are moving again.

Well smitty I can't think of anything other than the fuel pump relay, assuming the inertia switch is set, and your new fuel pump isn't a dud. At least you can have confidence in knowing your pump, and CKS sensor won't fail for the next 100,000 miles or so. I suppose if you're really strapped for cash you could return that sensor. After the service they gave you that shouldn't be a problem!

How long till you get your relay? My last diagnostic question is this. You do have gas in your tank right?

Let us know how it goes when you get it in. 3 times a charm right?

Relay and filter will be in Wednesday. I paid for overnight shipping cause my wife needs her vehicle. I work 40 miles one way from home and she stays home with our kids, if there is an emergency, it is half hour minimum for me to get home and another 15 to town, so it is pretty important to have a functioning vehicle for her.

Tank is a little over a quarter full, so should be plenty in there......

Third time is a charm and as I mentioned, at least it happened in the driveway and I did not have to get a tow home!!

Just read somewhere else on the forum that the fuel pump and the fuel gauge working together, which I remember seeing the float when I changed the pump.

https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...ower+fuel+pump

My fuel gauge is working so does that mean that I am getting power to the pump? Does the relay control power to the pump or just the signal to allow it to prime the system?

Sorry for all the questions but just trying to learn about my vehicle more.

As far as I know the relay powers the pump not the sending unit. (fuel level)
It would make sense if the relay powered the whole thing, no fuel gauge bad relay, simple enough.

In the future you can buy your fuel filter at Wal-Mart for $11, it will be just the filter but thats ok.
I replace mine once a year because the threads rust and when they do you will never get the filter off the truck.
Took me 3 hours to replace my fuel filter the first time, now it takes 15 min, I dont even need to lift the truck off the ground.

Let us know when its back on the road.
