Never do that.

For the service engine light, There is a little relay under the passenger dash. It has a land rover sticker on it covering a little hole. YOu need to stick a paper clip in the hole with the key on to reset the reminder. I think there is a write up with pictures on www.discoweb.org under the tech tab. If it is your check engine light, some auto parts stores will reset it for free if you tell them you fixed the problem. Again, if it is the CEL, write down the codes and get back here to make sure it is your O2 sensors.

As far as changing the sensors, there is a spanner wrench made for them, it is well worth using it and some PB blaster to penetrate. Using the 2 together makes it easy...

Good Luck

It looks like you are talking about two different things. He is wanting to change out his 02 sensors, most likely cause he has fault codes. He is not needing to turn of his maintance light.
That being said, if I am right then get a scanner and clear the codes thru your OBD2.

Just finished replacing mine in a 95 Disco. Only two. Was the easiest thing in the world with the right size wrench.

Now for the reset. I'll go to AutoZone tomorrow.

sorry, mis-understood. There is a service engine light that is red for an emissions reminder, and a yellow check engine light. Thought you were talking about the service light.

The wrench is just a spanner wrench like you use for tubing connections. Not sure what size, though..
