Default 98 Disco (Purge Valve p1448), odometer stopped working and...

Well I thought it would be atleast a month before I would be back to the forums, but last night while driving home - the odometer randomnly stopped working, so I automatically thought alternator. Then I filled up on gas and about 10 mins later, check engine light comes on, drive 10 mins more and battery light comes on. So I get the truck home, which is always good, pull the codes and I have only one p1448 (evaporative loss control system - Major leak (Driving Cycle C). So that is where I am at. And looking for some diagnosing.

98 Disco 142m on it, most recent change was the fuel pump - about 2 weeks before this. Let me know if you need to know anything else.
Thanks all.

Your odometer is mechanincal, it does not require electricity to work.
Unhook the speedo cable from the transmission, hook up a drill to it, lock the trigger and see if the speedo and OD work.
If yes speedo but no OD then you need a new OD head, if non work you need a new speedo cable.
