Default 99 disco 11 - slight power steering whine

New to the car and forum...going through it all and rebuilding.
been hot as hell here in Denver and starting putting a few miles on the rover.
new tires today and noticed a slight whining when i got home. Plenty of turbulence in the power steering reservoir ( good or bad) ?
maybe just needs a flush and fill with the rave instructions for doing so?
lucas etc?
thanks,,,,

First, look at my sticky at the top of this section for major service, this will give you a good guide on what you should do to the truck before you hit the hills.
P/S whine, I would start with a 4 quarts flush of the system and a bottle of Lucas p/s additive.
If you need any help and since you are close, send me your number and I'll call you.

Mr Denver,
Yo.
I had power steering noise.
Replaced the power steering pump.

I still have power steering noise.
I am thinking I have a bad rubber mount somewhere
That noise is loud.

I tried to stop the serpentine belt and the noise got better..

Replaced the Power steering pump.
Could be my transmission pump on the way out or some pulley making noise or the oil pump.

Who knows.

But, taking the tension off of the Serpertine belt caused my noise to diminish.

Have a listen to that video

The pump that you installed, was it used, rebuilt or new?
With taking a little tension off the belt also takes the load off a possible weak bearing, just a thought.

Hi Mike,
New pump from British Pacific.
It was an Allmakes and set me back $320 or so.

I sold the old pump on eBay for $150 as used and working and the guy who installed it had NO complaints.

So, I probably replaced the pump for no good reason *as you noted I probably would!*

After the PS pump I replaced the transmission fluid and filter.
And, the nice parking lot and I parted ways.

You could get a good view of the Flagstaff fires from the parking lot.
