Default 99 disco as parts truck for 01 disco

Does this make any sense ? The 99 has a bush guard that i want and an ac condenser that i need and is in good shape. I think it would have the cdl which i would also like in my 01. Also my front bumber is a little messed up so i could replace that as well. I think i can get it for around $2000 and the ac condenser for my 01 is $500 just to buy it. The bush guard is worth around $1000 so as long as the parts on a 99 will fit a 01 i think its a good deal.
Sorry for the long post and thanks for any info.

As long as both are D2s the 99 will make a great parts car for the 01.

Yup, both have to be DII for everything to be plug and play.
As for the CDL, if this is in fact a DII, the 99 will have the t-case with the CDL nipple, but there is no guarantee that it will have a lever to engage it. You will save tons of money having the t-case with the nipple, but you'll still need to find linkage and a shifter to engage it.

So i take it from your comments that a 99 could be a series I or a series II ? Is this correct ? I thought that all 99's were series II.

Nope. LR sold both DI and DII in 1999. Easiest way to tell the difference that I know of is the door handles. If they're the same as your '01, then it is a DII...if they different then it's probably a DI.

The rear lights is also an easy way to tell. You'll prob know as soon as you see it if its a DI or DII.
