Caty,
I would suggest you call me sometime and lets see if we can get to the bottom of this. There are other possible reasons for misfires,

My Wife had similar trouble with our Rover while i was deployed this past year. New plugs and wires are always a good place to start. We have found from experience that Rovers need their oil changed like a religion. The Bosh engines in the Discos are prone to the valves sticking when the oil and the engines get nasty. That will cause a missfire or what may be called a random missfire. Flush the engine and change the oil. In about 3000 miles do it again. It may take a few times of doing this. I would take the advice and do the tune up first. If your problum continues after words try to get that engine clean. They are good trucks but they need good regular maintance. If not they will make you pay for it. My Wife took our truck to the dealer and they told her that it needed a tuneup. I had just done one about 5000 miles ago. After some looking we found that the engines have a fualt with the oil passages for the heads. This sometimes leads the heads needing to be redone if let go for to long. Good Luck. PS Astrid says that after the second oil change she used Motorkote and we have had no trouble with it for almost 10000 miles.

I don't know if it's even safe to say your's wasn't well maintained. Heck, a misfire can happen with any vehicle at any time. You can't blame the vehicle if you haven't really tried to resolve the issue in a persistant mannor. Run it and raise the hood in a dark place at night and look around under the hood closely to see if you see or hear any snapping or see any sparking. Could still be some spark getting past the wires. It has to be totally dark, no light at all. If plugs and wires don't cure it, may be worth looking at the coils, next. Get it fixed and move on. Good luck.

I'm new to Land Rovers and the first thing I noticed when I drovemy truck home for the first time a few days agowas that the engine seems to get very hot, and the spark plugs run very close to the engine and exhaust manifold.More than I've seen onany vehicle. Now I'm having the same misfire problem on mine. Hopefully newwires will do the trick.

I still like my new truck though

Rover engine compartments run very hot and as long as the plug wires are snapped into the little holders, you'll be fine. How many miles on your truck?

87k miles. I don't know what's been done to it. The serpentine belt looks new at least, but one of the pulleys (tensioner or idler) is making a bunch of noise and it seems like those are usuallyreplaced with the belt, so who knows how it's been maintained. The spark plug wires are grey and are made by "Leoni". Could those be original?

If you want, I will send you a list of stuff you should check and do. The belt tensioner and idler pulleys should probably be replaced, Rover has up graded them.
